Ane knows she must tell her father that the date with Jesper has had consequences, but she fears her father's reaction. In her husband's absence, Mrs. Frigh is increasingly preoccupied with the local farmer, Arne Kokholm, while Mrs. Aurland becomes more and more careless in her secret relationship with Weyse.
